Also still standing and now privately owned is the Missanabie Hotel. In it's heyday, Missanabie was both a mining and lumber town, with a sawmill on the outskirts and a prosperous gold mine called Renabie 11 miles away. Now, however, the town's mainstay is tourism, and you will find the atmosphere to be relaxed and welcoming. |

Missanabie is a tiny little town with a year-round population of 40 people. The town was born at the time of the North West Fur Trade, and is home to one of the only original trading posts still standing in this part of Ontario - quite a feat, having been built in 1886!
